I am a business owner in the hospitality industry and although we serve many tourists; I am opposed to the DMF, TIF, or NFDF affectionately known as ‘the tourist tax’. I speak with a lot of tourists and I hear time and again that they feel the tourist district is an overpriced cash grab. Hidden fees, extra fees, taxes on taxes, $9 for water and $18 for a baked potato? If Niagara Falls wants to create a positive reputation as a great destination for a vacation, then we need to start treating our tourists like repeat customers not just one time ripoffs.
Thank you to John Law for pointing me to this piece he wrote on the ‘tourist tax’
